1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Consciousview (“Service,” “Platform,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information about users (“User,” “you,” or “your”) of our platform.
By accessing or using the Service, you consent to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, full name, user type (Builder or Explorer), and password (stored securely by our authentication provider).
Profile Information: Depending on your user type, you may provide avatar/profile image, profile visibility preferences, notification preferences. Builders may provide handle/username, bio/description, GitHub username, skills and expertise, social media links, and portfolio projects. Explorers may provide company name, job role/title, description of what you're looking for, and budget range.
Project Listing Information: When Builders create listings, we collect project title and description, problem statement, screenshots and images, technical documentation URLs, license type preferences, technology stack, pricing information (optional), collaboration preferences, and visibility settings.
Communication Data: When you use our messaging features, we collect message content, message timestamps, read receipts, and thread participants.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
We automatically collect information about how you use the Service including pages and features accessed, actions taken, timestamps of activities, and referral sources. We may also collect browser type and version, operating system, device type, IP address, and general location.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
We use Supabase for authentication, which may provide us with authentication tokens, session information, and account metadata. We do not receive or store your password directly; it is managed by our authentication provider.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To Provide the Service: Create and manage your account, enable listings, facilitate communication, process access requests, display profiles and listings, send notifications
- To Improve the Service: Analyze usage patterns, debug issues, develop new features, monitor performance
- To Communicate With You: Send service-related notifications, respond to inquiries, send updates about changes, send marketing communications (with consent)
- To Ensure Safety and Security: Detect and prevent fraud, enforce Terms of Service, verify identities when necessary, investigate violations
- To Comply With Legal Obligations: Respond to legal requests, comply with applicable laws, protect legal rights
4. How We Share Your Information
4.1 Public Information
The following information may be publicly visible depending on your settings: your public profile information, your Builder handle, public listings and their details, public portfolio items, and information you choose to make public.
4.2 With Other Users
Builders can see messages and inquiries from Explorers. Explorers can see Builder profiles and listing information. Users in a message thread can see each other's messages.
4.3 Service Providers
We may share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, including Supabase for database hosting, authentication services, real-time communication infrastructure, and data storage. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information.
4.4 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, in response to court orders or legal process, government or regulatory requests, to protect rights, property, or safety, or to investigate potential violations.
4.5 Business Transfers
If Consciousview is involved in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4.6 What We Do Not Share
We do not: sell your personal information to third parties, share your private messages with anyone other than intended recipients, share your email address publicly without consent, or provide your information to advertisers for targeted advertising.
5. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active, as necessary to provide the Service, as required by law, or as needed to resolve disputes. If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal information, though some information may be retained as required by law.
Beta Period Considerations: During the beta period, data retention practices may change. We may need to delete data due to technical changes. We recommend maintaining independent backups of important information.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication through Supabase, row-level security policies in our database, access controls, and regular security reviews.
Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and Correction: Access your personal information through account settings, update or correct information at any time, request a copy of your personal information
- Deletion: Delete your listings and content through the Service, request deletion of your account by contacting us
- Communication Preferences: Manage notification preferences in account settings, opt out of marketing communications
- Profile Visibility: Control whether your profile is public or private, choose visibility settings for listings
- Data Portability: Upon request, we will provide a copy of your personal information in a commonly used, machine-readable format where technically feasible
8. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies and similar technologies for authentication and session management, security and fraud prevention, and basic Service functionality.
We currently do not use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, social media tracking pixels, or third-party analytics services.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be stored and processed in countries outside your own, including the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 18, please contact us immediately.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy on the Service, updating the “Last Updated” date, and sending you an email notification for significant changes. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
